origins of this last name. 1) Descendents of Ji Wu, a son of
Zhou Ping Wang. According to
the legend, Ji Wu was born with a birth mark on his hand which resembled the letter Wu.
Thats why Zhou Ping Wang named him Wu. His descendents adopted Wu as their last name. 2)
During the Xia Dynasty, there was a kingdom called Wu Lou.
(Some believe that Wu Lou was
the name of a person). People of the Wu Lou kingdom or descendents of Wu Lou are known as
the Wus. 3) During Chun Qiu, Son Dai Gong was named
Son Wu Gong after his death, and his descendents also are known as the Wus.
